Dr. Pontinha is a health economist with significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He received his PhD from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy where he developed group-based trajectory models to identify patterns of long-term medication adherence and implemented machine learning algorithms to evaluate value-based health care policy. He was also able to attract extramural funding to pursue his doctoral dissertation.
Prior to his doctoral training, he received his pharmacy degree from the University of Lisbon and his Master in Management from the Católica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics. Currently, his focus relies on researching economic evaluation of non-pharmaceutical interventions and health care policy.
