Professor and Director Center for Biomarker Research and Personalized Medicine, PhD Erasmus University Rotterdam 1993, Dr. Van den Oord was trained in applied statistics and psychiatric genetics. His research aims to develop and apply methodology for identifying biomarkers to improve disease understanding and match individual patients to the most effective and safe medication. The main applications involve substance use disorders and psychiatric conditions. Examples of ongoing projects include efforts to find methylation markers to predict chronic depression and health consequences of childhood adversity, optimizing methods to perform whole methylome studies in brain, data integration, and finding biomarkers to predict response to medications used to treat mental disorders.

PubMed Search
The publications search is performed on the National Library of Medicine's PubMed database. The search may be slow during high traffic hours, may return articles authored by another researcher with a similar name and may not always find all of a researcher's articles.
