Dave Dixon is the Nancy L. and Ronald H. McFarlane Professor (tenured) of Pharmacy and Chair of the Department of Pharmacotherapy & Outcomes Science. Dr. Dixon is also Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Cardiology. His research interests include cardiometabolic disease, guideline adherence and implementation, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and pharmacist interventions to improve the management of cardiovascular risk factors. He provides clinical pharmacy services in preventive cardiology at VCU Health. Dr. Dixon is an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association and the Journal of Clinical Lipidology. He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association, National Lipid Association, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and American College of Cardiology. Dr. Dixon is a past recipient of the New Investigator and Innovations in Teaching Awards from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. He received the school's Excellence in Service award in 2021 and an Outstanding Preceptor Award from the class of 2013. Dr. Dixon has published over 130 peer-reviewed publications and 11 book chapters.
