Laboratory Technician. MS in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012. Heather has over 12 years of experience from biological research settings. This includes research in cognition and behavior, molecular biology, immunology, and infectious disease. She has significant experience with immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, primary cell culture, and extraction of DNA from various tissues including blood and brain. Her lab technical skills now expand to include a wide set of DNA quality control techniques, Pyrosequencing of single nucleotide polymorphisms and bisulfite converted methylation sites as well as DNA fragmentation followed by enrichment of the methylated fraction of the genome.
